Breakfast is Awesome

Breakfast is the best meal of the day...fo sho.

It's so good, it makes me want to just twerk in the kitchen...in my undies
Lately, I'm glad to say, I've gotten new "tastes" for breakfast food.

In the past I could seriously run a train on some big, chessey breakfast tacos, pig in the blankets, doughnuts, cheesey ass omelet, or some biscuits and gravy! But as I sit here and think back, all those things were really good while I was eating them, but afterwards I felt like complete shit.

I really think that breakfast sets the pace for the rest of the day. If I eat like crapola for breakfast, I'm probably going to eat like crap for the rest of the day too.
This is how I feel after I eat a shit breakfast!!
If I get something good and healthy for breakfast, I feel a lot better and it gives me more motivation to keep eating well all day.

Like this morning, I had some old fashioned oats, strawberries, and almond butter. YUM.

And now I feel like a freakin boss after eating that!!

I also like eating egg whites with some salsa, maybe toss that on a whole wheat tortilla.Way better than a greasy bacon, egg, bean, potato, and cheese taco!

From the cleanse, I really started liking hard boiled egg and fruit for breakfast too.

A lot of people drink shakes and smoothies in the mornings, but I'm not really a smoothie person, but I think I could become one. I just need to surf around on Pinterest for some good ones!

This pin is one of the reasons I started thinking about doing smoothies in the mornings...

How genius is this?? Freeze your smoothies in a muffin tin, and then just take a couple the night before, put them in a glass in the fridge over night....and BAM smoothie ready to go in the morning...because let's be real, Fluffy ain't got no time to blend up a damn smoothie in da mornin!

I do think breakfast is important...it is to me anyways!!

Breakfast especially JLaw ;)

What healthy breakfast meals do you eat??? Got any good smoothie recipes???

  1. Ok, I am so loving you for this post. I love me some biscuits and gravy and hell all of that other stuff you named but you are so right...if I start my day off eating crap I eat more crap for the rest of the day. I have never been a smoothie girl either until recently. I don't like milk really so I have been using juice. I usually use a big handful of spinach, a bunch of different frozen fruits, and about 10oz of the diet splash. The juice is only like 10 calories and I love it. I have been looking for a way to make them ahead of time so the muffin tin idea is perfect. I usually sip on that most of the morning and have fruit with is.

  2. I am a SUCKER for breakfast foods. I LOVE protein pancakes (oats, cottage cheese, whey powder, egg whites) topped with fruit or PB2. Also a big fan of egg white omelets loaded with veggies (and yes, I still put cheese in it... I just measure it out first!). But of course, lots of salsa. I don't know what I would do without salsa. Eeeek!

  3. Great job girl! Keep it up! On a more serious note I love breakfast and it keeps me from getting hAngry at 9am. I might have to try the smoothie thing because when I used to live next to the gym I could make time for that, not anymore!

  4. Breakfast sucks for me. I hate eggs/egg whites without any goodness to cover up the fact that I'm eating eggs (gag.) Can't do milk stuff either, so the smoothies sound great but with water aren't as much fun.

I did oatmeal daily for five years between pregnancies and nursing so I'm oated out too.
so I struggle with real food for breakfast. Give me my coffee first and then I'll manage on my peanut butter and banana.

  5. That smoothie idea is genius... I wake up before my kids so I can have me time, and you couldn't PAY to run a mother f'ing BLENDER in the morning! Also Twerking is no joke, and I'm pretty sure I pulled a muscle in my back one time trying to Miley it out in my bedroom... be careful. For reals.

  6. That french fry gif is hilarious! It reminds me of how I look after I drink too much wine lolz. I am lazy so I love the overnight oats in the fridge. Especially if I have an empty peanut butter or nutella jar to put them in... deelish!!! Throw some fruit in and ur done!

  7. Greek yogurt, blackberries and granola rocks my face off and keeps me full. I have to have my coffee too! Like...MUST have coffee haha

  8. That oatmeal looks delicious! For smoothies I just put frozen fruit, some OJ, and a scoop of vanilla protein powder into a blender cup, blend it, screw on a lid, and that's it!

  9. Twerking with a frying pan is pretty much my new favorite thing to do and I haven't even done it yet but just from that gif, I know I'm going to do the damn thing.

Also, why do biscuits and gravy have to be so good but so bad? How do we make a healthy smoothie that tastes so delicious?

  10. I agree about breakfast being important! I too feel like crap after eating bad first thing in the morning! I have old fashioned oats and some fruit on the side most mornings. When I make smoothies I do a few handfuls of spinach, 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries, a banana, 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 2 big tablespoons of yogurt.

  11. 1. That GIF.....I need that in my life.
    2. Muffin tins!? People are geniuses.

But I so agree with you, I'm like oh a glazed donut? And next thing I know I'm elbows deep into a baconator and don't even know what my life is anymore.

  12. i keep meaning to eat healthy for breakfast but I can never get my butt outta bed early enough to get ready for the day PLUS fix something...my diet pepsi for breakfast habit needs kicked to curb but I can't help it! I need to get on this smoothie kick!

  13. I know it's said that breakfast is so important, but I do find myself skipping it, or at least putting it off as long as I can in the mornings. I do love breakfast foods (pancakes, waffles, french toast ... donuts some days) ... I wish I liked smoothies. I just can't do smoothies of ANY type, even the most basic. I can't drink fruit/veggies, I can barely eat it ...

  15. Bahahah... that top gif... ahhhh! I agree with you that breakfast sets the tone for the day. I love freezing bananas then blending them with chocolate soy milk and a plop of ground flax seed. DELICIOUS, EASY, CHEAP.

  16. I'm obsessed with three scrambled eggs, Mexican shredded cheese and chunky marinara sauce over whole wheat toast. I have it at least 3 days a week.

  17. Love this! You're so right too. Breakfast is the meal that sets the tone for the rest of the day. I definitely notice a difference in my attitude towards food if I start the day off right with a good, healthy breakfast.

My favorite breakfast (despite being kind of putzy to make) is an sausage, egg, and cheese muffin. It's 410 calories for the whole thing which I don't think is too horrible. I added some green pepper to my egg this morning to give it a different taste. I find that I stay full a lot longer when I have this for breakfast too. I really would like to learn how to make oats so that I like them. The instant packets aren't bad but I want to be able to change it up sometimes too. And everyone's pictures of their oats just make me feel like I'm missing out on something awesome.

  19. Great post.. I need the oatmeal recipe. I get lost if the oatmeal doesn't come in a packet. I made biscuits and gravy on Sunday for the family and didn't have any of it!!!! WAHHHHHHHH...

  20. I've always been a must eat breakfast person. Oatmeal is one of my favorite filling breakfasts - throw in some fruit and you're good. I love eggs too. I could eat them every single day.

  21. I've been doing 2 wheat eggos w/ a tbsp of peanut butter. 7 WW points and pretty filling. Nom nom.

  22. I'm a green monster/protein shake for breakfast kind of gal. I use ice, 0% Chobani, berries of some sort, a scoop of ON cake batter whey, water, and spinach for my breakfast day after day. It keeps me full for hours. I love it! On weekends I'm an egg white/spinach omelet and center cut bacon gal, but it doesn't fill me up nearly as much as a smoothie/protein shake does.

Also, your gifs are amazing. I stared at the first one for like 10 minutes. Oops.

  24. I remember when I first started eating better my biggest dread was having to eat breakfast. My whole life I wasn't much of a breakfast eater and it was an aquired taste. I now look forward to my breakfasts. My favorite breakfasts are spinach, tomato, and feta egg white omelette. Steel cut oats with mashed banana, chia seeds, cinnamon, and a few dark chocolate chips. I also really like the Kashi waffles.
